In yet another testament to his unwavering commitment to grassroots development, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has etched his name in the history of Akpor Kingdom by delivering a befitting palace, the first of its kind in over two centuries!
The story began on May 24, 2024, when Governor Fubara visited Akpor Kingdom for the flag-off of the 6.5km Okania-Ogbogoro-Mbaraja road. Among the heartfelt requests of the Akpor people was the construction of a befitting palace, a long-standing dream for the kingdom. Without hesitation, His Excellency acknowledged the need and made a solemn pledge to fulfill it.

True to his word, Governor Fubara awarded the construction contract to Zotto Procuring Limited and today, the people of Akpor Kingdom are witnessing the fulfillment of that promise.

Understanding that the palace belongs to the entire Akpor people, Governor Fubara went a step further, he also built a befitting residence for the incumbent Nyeweali Akpor, HRH Eze Levi Orlu Oriebe, ensuring a comfortable and dignified home for the kingdom’s custodian.

In an emotional expression of gratitude, Eze Levi Orlu Oriebe thanked Governor Fubara as a true friend of Akpor Kingdom, emphasizing that this palace is the first-ever in the over 200-year history of Akpor. As a mark of honour and appreciation, the kingdom did something unprecedented, they bestowed a chieftaincy title on a non-indigene for the first time!

Governor Fubara is now “Omenma 1 of Akpor Kingdom”, a title signifying his exceptional goodwill and love for the people.

The magnificent palace was dedicated to the glory of God by HRM Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, Eze Oha Apara IV, sealing the moment as a historic milestone in the kingdom’s journey.
